Education and Community Responsibility
Education through Boxing
NABC aim to support the local community in helping to reduce anti-social behaviour and improve relationships between young people and the local community.
By working in partnership with local schools we aim to provide support to the local community by providing boxing sessions to young people at risk of exclusion and/or anti social behaviour. We offer funded places to students who are currently at risk of exclusion and fixed term suspensions a chance to learn the sport of boxing and gain all the positive associated benefits that go alongside this such as Discipline, Respect, Determination and Resilience.
With 2 Impact Reports demonstrating the positive benefits, we aim to continue and expand the good work that our coaches have achieved over the last year.
Over the last year we have had 4 local schools and the local college be able to part of our initiatives.

Alternative Educational Provision
NABC and Suggys Gym style!
In January we expanded our educational provision to include those who are not currently in mainstream education.
As part of this programme our students not only spent time in our gym learning how to box with our qualified coaches but they also got an amazing opportunity and went up to the home of GB Boxing in Sheffield. Here they were given a tour of the facilities, did some pad work in the same ring that Anthony Joshua won in and met former Olympian Richie Woodhall.
Boxing is more than just a sport, it gives hope and aspiration to many young people.
This was an amazing opportunity for us to be able to continue to support more young people in our local area and we are so proud of all the work we do here.

Box Champions
Our 20-week programme is designed to empower young people aged 8 to 25 with the skills and inspiration needed to make positive changes in their lives. The programme combines non-contact boxing training with psychology-informed mentoring to create impactful and enjoyable sessions.
The programme
Our non-contact boxing training includes pad work, shadow boxing drills, punchbag workouts, circuit training, and skipping, all of which are timed to last for three-minute rounds, the same duration as a boxing round. During a one-minute rest period between rounds, our coaches can mentor the young person, building trust and rapport.
Throughout Box Champions, young people learn evidence-based personal development principles that help them understand the nature of the mind and normalise feelings they may be experiencing. This equips them with the skills to manage emotions, behaviours, and situations. As trust grows between the young person and their coach, the coach supports them with setting personal goals that are meaningful to them. These goals may include returning to school, making new friends, or finding a job. By the end of the programme, young people have gained confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose that they can carry with them into the future

Personal development principles
Examples of personal development principles used by our coaches include:
- GO WITH THE FLOW: Fighting negative emotions makes us feel more stressed and by leaving them alone our mind will return to a clear and healthy state.
- FEEL THE FEAR: To overcome difficult feelings we must not run from them but rather accept and confront them.
- ACTION, NOT OUTCOME: Break down goals, which can often feel out of reach, into smaller targets or actions that are within our control.
